Mika & Plastic Surgery

I’ve long tried to like Mika Brzezinki, and I’ve always failed. I can pronounce her name perfectly, and am fond of her Eastern-European-ness. I heard her father’s name many times growing up in Bulgaria.

There’s a certain superficiality & self-consciousness I see in her, that are probably internalized appearance pressure. I don’t like watching her for that reason.

I read her book on women and work, and I found it incredibly shallow. You know the type, full of inspirational quotes, likely ghost-written by the first person who volunteered. Doing nothing to help women.

But to shame a woman for plastic surgery? What’s more, for a man to do that? A man who owns a beauty contest? Who, somehow (how, again?) is president?

What would Trump’s daughter and wife be without plastic surgery?
